Our mind is like a garden; if we deliberately cultivate flowers (positive and uplifting thoughts) and water them, they will grow. But if we stop making efforts to keep the flowers alive, weeds will grow automatically, without any effort on our part. So we need to make a conscious effort to develop the habit of thinking positively. When we let our thinking loose, negativity will take over.

Brian Tracy, in his book “Eat That Frog”, mentions the seven truths about us that we tend to forget sometimes. These truths help us cultivate the flowers in the garden of our minds and help us reach great heights.
1. We are all excellent people, valuable, and worthwhile beyond measure. No one is better than us or more gifted. So never question the value you bring and your essential goodness. Each of us is given unique capabilities to play a role in this world, which only we can play.
2. Each of us is important. We are important to
– ourselves, as our world revolves around us and we give meaning to what we interact with
– the people around us at home or at work, as the things we do and say have an enormous impact on them.
How important we feel largely determines the quality of our lives. Happy and successful people feel more important and valuable, and when they feel this way, they act this way and it becomes true for them. Unhappy and frustrated people feel unimportant and have little value and when they feel this way, they lash out at the world and engage in behaviours that hurt themselves and others.
3. We were put on this earth after being given unlimited potential, which can be used to create the life and the world we desire. Unlimited potential means unlimited; its up to us how much we utilize it and how. Trust in the potential you have; that is the basis of the growth mindset and is a key to becoming what you truly are capable of becoming. If we do not believe in our unlimited potential, we will not be able to utilize it to create the life and world we desire.
4. We create our world and reality with the way we think. If we think of ourselves as capable people, that becomes our reality, and if we have self-limiting beliefs, that will also become our reality.
5. We have complete control over our thinking. We are free to think what we want to think and our thinking dictates our actions. Our actions and results depend on whether we think happy and uplifting thoughts or negative and self-limiting thoughts.
6. Each of us has a life purpose, and we are meant to do something great in this life. That’s why each of us is bestowed with unique talents, abilities, and ideas. Our acceptance or non-acceptance determines how high we set our goal and how much we achieve. If we continue working on making our next day better than yesterday, eventually, with the help of God, we will achieve our purpose in life.
7. Each of us is limitless. Fears and doubts add limits to us and hold us back.
When you feel down or questioning your abilities, review these seven truths about yourself; they will help you see who you really are. Sometimes our past experiences teach us to think negatively about ourselves. Remember the rule
