In life we are given many choices and our happiness depends on the choices we make. Here are some of the choices we face:
41- Live in the past or the future or be present:
Recommendation: Live in the clam, real present instead of living in hypothetical future or rehearsing unsatisfying histories. Focus on here and now.
42- Delay gratification or seize the moment:
Recommendation: Do not delay gratification for such a long time that you forget to seize the moment, to refuel and replenish your energy store. Make a list of energy boosters. Use them when needed. They will make you feel better in the moment and will create a current of enthusiasm and energy that will help you to be more productive, creative and happier.
43- Do what you feel that you have to do or do what you want to do:
Recommendation: Consciously construct your life as a whole so that path your life task is the one you have chosen actively.
44- Avoid making mistakes by not trying or learn from failure:
Recommendation: Learn to fail or fail to learn. Successful people fail their way to success. Understand that failure is not a stumbling block but a stepping stone to success.
45- Remain indifferent or help and contribute:
Recommendation: Helping others significantly contribute to our well being and creates a win-win relationship.
46- Take short, shallow breaths or breathe deeply and slowly:
Recommendation: Deep breathing coupled with focusing on something positive, provides a powerful technique that can change the way you feel.
47- Lash out at those close to you or respect those close to you:
Recommendation: Often we save our best behaviour for strangers but say painful and hurtful things to family members. Instead of focusing on our loved ones’ imperfections and weaknesses, we need to highlight to ourselves those traits that we admire and appreciate and treat them with love and respect that they deserve from us.
48- Sway with the winds of approval or maintain the strength of independence:
Recommendation: If you care about others doesn’t mean that you have to forgo your personal beliefs and conform. For every matter get your own approval instead if someone else.
49- Be driven by guilt and duty or pursue your passion:
Recommendation: You are more likely to thrive if you listen to your inner voice. Ask yourself: What gives you strength? What are your passions? What energises you? Remember Steve Job’s saying “Your time is limited, so don’t spend it living someone else’s life… have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”
50- Take the good for granted or appreciate the good:
Recommendation: By being aware of all the blessings you have and appreciating it more good things are likely to come your way. Being grateful gives your energy, happiness and makes you optimistic.
