Choose the Life You Want – Part 4

In life we are given many choices and our happiness depends on the choices we make. Here are some of the choices we make:

31- Dwell on weaknesses and deficiencies or focus on strengths and abilities:

Recommendation: Identify your strengths and know your weaknesses. Invest more effort cultivating your talents and abilities, so that you can thrive, while investing on your weaknesses to be able to survive in the world.

32- Tighten up or let go:

Recommendation: Release all the stress by breathing exercises and gently sink into calmness.

33- Focus on outcome or focus on process:

Recommendation: Since we do not have control over the outcome, lack of control stresses us out. Practice and learn to live with lack of control. Instead of stressing over the destination, focus on the journey.

34- Perceive hardship as permanent or perceive hardship as temporary:

Recommendation: Happy people know that painful emotions like all emotions are temporary on the other hand unhappy people tend to believe that their emotions are there to stay.

35- Remain inactive or move:

Recommendation: To increase the likelihood of enjoying physical and mental health, we need to move.

36- Act like a know-it-all or open your mind and heart to learning:

Recommendation: Ask questions, listen and learn.

37- Lose sight of what truly matters or connect to your values:

Recommendation: When we forget what a privilege it is to be alive, we feel lethargic and unhappy. The things that truly matter to us are all the priceless things in life. Pay attention to them.

38- Fly through life on autopilot or choose deliberately:

Recommendation: Step back and take control and act consciously and deliberately. Think before reacting to anything and create a better experience for myself and for those around you.

39- Frown or smile:

Recommendation: We can improve our mood anytime by simply smiling. To jump start the process, think of something that makes you smile, someone you live with or something funny and it will bring out the real emotions of happiness.

40- See the glass as half empty or see the glass as half full:

Recommendation: Looking at negative, magnify what is not working and looking at positive aspects amplify the things that are working. Choose what you want to focus on.
