In life we are given many choices and our happiness depends on the choices we make. Here are some of the choices we face:
21- Chase the next material acquisition or invest in experiences:
Recommendation: Once our basic needs are met, acquiring bigger, better things does not make us any happier, they only give us temporary highs. Lasting happiness comes from positive experiences. So choose wisely.
22- Be defensive or be open to suggestions:
Recommendation: Do not deprive yourself of real growth by not being open to other people’s point of view.
23- Refrain from saying no or say yes only when your vision is served:
Recommendation: Find courage to listen to yourself before saying yes. Sometimes when we say yes to others, we are saying no to ourselves. Be mindful of that.
24- Refuse to accept reality or accept reality and act on it:
Recommendation: Learn to live with reality, as you experience constant frustration if you refuse to accept it. Instead of wishful thinking, spend time and effort on the real thinking.
25- Treat life with gravity or bring humour and lightness:
Recommendation: To make life more pleasant, regain the spark of laughter and fun, which contributes to our psychological and physical health and also makes us more pleasant to be around.
26- Be part of the rat race or focus on what truly matters:
Recommendation: Get involved in the activities which are emotionally satisfying and you care about. Don’t focus too much on long term goals and miss everything that is what matters to you as we don’t get life 2nd time.
27- Avoid the effort of thinking or focus and think:
Recommendation: To lead a full and fulfilling life you can’t afford to rely on your instincts, or to outsource thinking to other people. Your actions should be a product of your thinking.
28- Worry or Move on:
Recommendation: When you start to feel worried about the things that are beyond your control or are trivial, step back and identify if there is a purpose behind that worry. Research shows that happiness increases with age. Later in life you do recognize what truly matters and stop wasting time and energy on futile concerns, happier you will be.
29- Be a pessimist or be hopeful and optimistic:
Recommendation: We have more control on life then you mostly dare to believe. Whether you are optimistic or pessimistic – plays a significant role in creating your reality.
30- Establish your superiority or make others feel good:
Recommendation: Before showing off your gifts to others, give them the gift of kindness. A deep and lasting positive regard for ourselves can only emerge from making others feel better about themselves.
