Resistance to Change

Aubrey C. Daniels said that “people don’t resist change if the change provides immediate positive consequences for them. Nobody’s resists change when the immediate consequences favour it”.

It means we just need to understand what is most important for the people we are trying to implement change in and find an immediate consequence (positive or negative reinforcement) that they would care about and we are all good to be able to merge the changes in this fast-paced world where change is inevitable.

If meeting with resistance to change, understand the goal of the team and tie the change to the goal. If the goal is unknown or not set, before introducing the change, brainstorm the goal with the team and get alignment on it. Then introduce the change in such a way that the team sees the immediate positive impact on their work and helps them achieve their goal.

Did you have recent experience implementing a change in the house, office, or school, and how did it go? Do share!

  7. Throughout this great scheme of things you actually receive an A just for effort. Where exactly you actually confused me personally ended up being in your facts. You know, it is said, the devil is in the details… And that couldn’t be more true here. Having said that, let me reveal to you what did deliver the results. The text is definitely very persuasive which is probably the reason why I am making the effort to opine. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. 2nd, despite the fact that I can notice a leaps in reasoning you make, I am not necessarily sure of exactly how you seem to connect the points that help to make your conclusion. For right now I will subscribe to your position but trust in the near future you connect the facts better.
