It is ok to say no and not necessarily explain the reason why you can’t because “No” is a complete sentence. You do not be sorry for saying no. When you say no, you are taking care of yourself and your time and no one needs to feel sorry for taking care of themselves.

For some people saying no seems to end of the world and they are too afraid to say it as they think that it will impact the relationship with the person, asking for a favour. If a relationship will end because someone is being mindful of their time and does not want to burnout, then it’s better to end that selfish relationship..

Usually when someone asks for something, they are only asking, they are not forcing us. We should take it like and not think that the world will end if you say no. Also remember when you say no, it’s not about the person who is asking but it is about you, as you can’t do something because of your own reason.

Reluctance to say no, leave us over committed and burn us out. Practice saying no and slowly it will become easy. It will help you realize what self imposed burden you can avoid.

We are taught to be generous and self-sufficient. So we act generously and say yes to every one but show our self sufficiency when we need help. When we don’t set boundaries on our generosity, our kindness saps our strength.

When we say no to something, we are giving implicit permission to others to say no too. It creates the environment in which open and straightforward communication can take place.

Look at the opportunity cost, what you can say yes to, if you don’t say no. What you will say no to, if you say yes to something. Don’t ignore your inner comfort just to please others.
