Garbage in, garbage out

We reap what we sow. If we want to get a different crop, we will have to sow the seed of the crop we are looking for. If we want to get the same output, we will continue to give the same input.

It is the same with our thoughts too. Our outer world is a reflection of what we are thinking at the moment. If our thoughts are negative and garbage, we will see and attract negativity around us, and our surroundings will be full of garbage. On the other hand, life feels beautiful and calm when we only have positive thoughts.

Luckily, we have control over our thoughts and what we put in our brains. It’s not easy but doable. It’s all about developing habits.

Techniques for mental programming:

Consistently implementing these helps build the habit and enable full control of our thoughts.

  • Practice positive affirmations: When we repeat positive, uplifting words to ourselves, they soon begin to take on a power of their own and we begin to repel negative thoughts and attract only positive thoughts around us.
    • Always phrase positive affirmations with 3 Ps: personal (e.g “I am confident”), present (e.g. “I am wearing size XS shirt”) and positive tense ( e.g. “I am not a smoker” instead of “I do not smoke any more”)
  • Visualization is another powerful tool: If the visualization is vivid and has intensity, with a longer hold duration and frequency of visualization, it proves to me most effective.
